The Engines
Visibility is counted across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini. Four surfaces, because a brand can hold one and be absent from the next.
Our quarterly research programme measuring which companies AI engines actually name when a buyer asks them what to use, counted across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini. The July 2026 edition scores 63 fintech and AI brands.
Buyers increasingly open an AI assistant before they open a search results page. When they ask which KYC vendor to use or which treasury platform is best, the engine names a handful of companies. The Index measures who gets named, how often, and how far behind the leaders everyone else sits. It is the same measurement discipline behind ouranswer engine optimization work, run across a whole category at once instead of one company at a time.

Buying questions, not brand questions. Asking an engine what a company is will always return that company, so brand queries are reported separately and never inflate a headline score.
Each brand is scored out of 100 on how often it is named in the answers. A score of 14 is the effective floor of measurable visibility. Below that, tracking cuts out entirely.
Every score sits beside its category best: the strongest sources answering those same questions today. In most categories that is a review site, a bank or a publisher rather than a vendor.
Two things the numbers do not say. Scores move month to month, so every edition is a snapshot of the date it was taken rather than a permanent standing. And a low score is the norm right now: optimizing for AI answers is roughly where search optimization was in 2005, which is exactly why the window is open.
We scored 63 fintech and AI brands on how often each one appears when a buyer asks an AI engine which product to use. The category average came back at 22 out of 100. One brand has claimed its answer. Everyone else is still available.
Wise scores 78 out of 100. The next best, Adyen, sits at 45, and every other brand in the index is under 40. Wise is also the only one of the 63 that outperforms the strongest answer sources in its own category.
Chime scores 74 in the US and 39 worldwide. Ramp scores 67 against 27, Plaid 64 against 28, Brex 64 against 26. The answer a buyer gets changes with the continent they are asking from, and almost nobody defends both.
56 of the 59 scored brands sit below the strongest answer sources in their own category. Review sites, banks and publishers hold those answers today, which means the vendor is absent from the moment the buyer is deciding.
Treasury, KYC, WealthTech and RegTech all average in the teens. The first brand to claim one of those categories becomes the default answer inside it, and defaults compound with every answer that gets generated.

The Index is a standing research programme rather than a one-off study. Each edition takes a single category, scores the brands competing inside it, and publishes the shape of the field.
Fintech and AI is the first vertical we have published, because it is where a large share of our work sits and because its buying questions are unusually well defined. Ourfintech and AI engagements draw on the same data.
More verticals follow as editions publish. The question set stays stable between runs, so a score that shifts between editions shifted because the answers shifted. Every edition carries the month it was measured, and any question added to the set gets noted in it.
We will pull your score, the scores of the companies answering the same buying questions in your category, and the three moves that would change yours. It runs on the same four-engine panel we work from every month for clients, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. Twenty minutes, and there is no charge for it.
An AI visibility index scores a defined set of companies on how often each one gets named when buyers ask an AI assistant what to use in that category, then ranks them against each other. Ours scores every brand out of 100 and publishes one vertical per edition. The July 2026 edition covers 63 fintech and AI brands.
By counting how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers to the buying questions in its category, across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini. Each brand is scored out of 100 and set against the strongest sources answering the same questions today, which are often review sites, banks or publishers rather than vendors. A score of 14 is the floor of measurable visibility, and below that tracking cuts out entirely.
Quarterly. Scores move month to month, so every edition is a point-in-time snapshot and carries the month it was measured. The set of questions stays stable between runs, so a score that shifts between editions shifted because the answers shifted, and any question we add to the set gets noted in that edition.
Yes. Tell us your category and we will pull your score, the scores of the companies answering the same buying questions, and the three moves that would change yours. It takes 20 minutes and there is no charge for it.
